5 Indie Comic Recommendations For November

WALL BREAKERS

Hot, noisy, and ruthless. New York is suffering one of its worst heatwaves in history. An average joe comes across a mysterious object of occult origin; accidentally unleashing an enemy of pure, unrelenting evil!

They are many, and he but one. Can he survive the hunt? Find out in Wall Breakers, a hard-hitting, non-stop, action-adventure, a one-shot comic from SnowyWorks Publications.

EVIL CAST

After stumbling upon a secret organization, two podcasters obsessed with the supernatural find themselves caught up in a horror adventure filled with all the monsters and evil they previously thought to just be stories

Have you ever wondered if you’d survive a horror story? Most horror fans have—it’s hard not to, especially when the genre is filled with characters prone to bad decision-making and protagonists who usually, inexplicably in the modern world, lack any awareness of horror movie tropes or monsters. These thoughts crossed the mind of author, filmmaker, and podcaster Kyle Stück (Give Me to the Waves, Humming Fools) more than once, and eventually in 2019 they resulted in the creation of Evil Cast, a love letter to horror, its conventions, and its fans.

CRIT

CRIT (Covert Reconnaissance Infiltration Team) is a story about a group of heroes who are exposed to an ethereal energy while working on a project for their company, Technetic who decides to help the heroes learn to use their powers to fight crime. The story follows them as they learn how they obtained their powers, while also trying to help their city fight an overwhelming amount of crime.

In this exciting first issue we watch as this new group of heroes works to take down one of the city’s most active gangs: The Legion.

Set in 2019, CRIT takes on a growing amount of crime that has broken out in their home city of New Orleans. Funded by one of the world’s largest tech companies, Technetic, they take on gangs, drug dealers, and crime kingpins. In an effort to turn a profit on this investment, Technetic publicly endorses the team causing a new type of arms race as other companies try to create their own type of hero, but are these companies creating heroes or villains?

THE LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD

They came out of the sky, seven beings with incredible powers referring to themselves as “The Godsend”. They came to our planet to help evolve us into something greater, something more. Using their advanced technology, the Godsend bestowed upon us great powers and abilities. But with that same power came greed, corruption, and destruction. Using our new abilities, the human race went to war over who should rule the Earth, and billions were killed. The Godsend intervened but were too late, the damage had been done. Teaming up with the United Nations, the Godsend are now enforcers of the Archetype Papers, a law that prohibits super-powered beings(named Archetypes) from operating outside of their respective countries. And then the world went back to normal, but at what cost? And what happens when the whole world is in danger and it takes a team from all over the world to save it?

THE MANDALORIAN: HUNT FOR IMMORTALITY

The Mandalorian: Hunt For Immortality isn’t your typical fan fiction, it’s a very well done 10-page story that is pure art. From creators Omar Morales, the story imagines an alternate Star Wars timeline in which the Emperor has a very different plan for a deceased foe. With many different layers of Star Wars lore happening in just 10-pages, it is well worth the download and read (especially for free).
